In celebration of the 45th anniversary of John Carpenter’s iconic 1980 horror film The Fog, the Southampton Playhouse in Southampton, NY, is set to launch its new “Horror on Hill Street” series with a special screening of the classic thriller. The event will take place on Thursday, April 17 at 7:30 PM EST, marking the first horror film to be shown at the theater since its opening earlier this year.
The Southampton Playhouse, which boasts four state-of-the-art screens, including an IMAX theater and 35mm projection capabilities, will host the screening as part of its ongoing commitment to bringing top-tier repertory films to Long Island. In addition to the film, veteran film journalist Anne Thompson will be on hand to provide insights into her experience working as a unit publicist on the set of The Fog.
The film, which stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Adrienne Barbeau, and Hal Holbrook, tells the eerie tale of a small coastal town threatened by supernatural forces after a mysterious fog envelops the community. The Playhouse describes The Fog as a “masterful ghost story,” highlighting its themes of a dark past slowly rising to the surface.
This special anniversary event will also serve as a precursor to the release of the upcoming vampire epic Sinners, which will be screened in IMAX later in the week.
Tickets for the 45th anniversary screening of The Fog are available now at the Southampton Playhouse. With its stunning new facilities and a promising lineup of horror classics, the Playhouse is quickly establishing itself as a premier destination for film lovers on Long Island.
