Disney Unveils First Trailer for “Tron: Ares” Set to Arrive in 2025

by Barbara

Disney has officially released the highly anticipated trailer for its upcoming film Tron: Ares, the third installment in the Tron series. Following the success of Tron (1982) and its 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, the new film, set for release on October 10, 2025, brings fans back into the world of digital realms and reality-bending adventure.

The trailer, which has already garnered over 4 million views on YouTube within just four hours, introduces a thrilling opening sequence where a motorcyclist speeds through city streets, with police in pursuit. “Reports of a motorcyclist exceeding speeds of 120 miles per hour,” a dispatcher announces, while an officer responds, “Already in pursuit.” As the chase intensifies, the motorcyclist unleashes a laser that splits a squad car in two, accompanied by the ominous words: “I’m looking for something. Something I do not understand,” spoken by an unnamed narrator.

In a nod to the Tron franchise’s legacy, the film stars Jared Leto as Ares, a program from the digital universe who is tasked with entering the real world. Jeff Bridges, who starred in the original Tron, returns in a voice role as Kevin Flynn, his character from the first two films. While Bridges does not appear physically in the trailer, his voice is heard, stating, “Ready? Cause there’s no going back.” The film explores the clash between the digital world of Tron and our own reality, a concept fans have eagerly awaited since the 2010 sequel.

Fans of the franchise have expressed their excitement online, with many praising Tron: Legacy as “criminally underrated” for its visual effects, music, and cinematography. “Tron Legacy held a big place in my heart as a kid. Do not mess this up Disney,” wrote one fan in the trailer’s comment thread.

Bridges, reflecting on the series’ enduring popularity, said during a 2024 Expo, “It’s really unbelievable to think we made the original in 1982. It’s amazing—we never thought we would have this legacy that’s continued on all these years.”

As excitement builds for the film’s October 2025 release, Tron: Ares promises to continue the franchise’s tradition of visually stunning and action-packed storytelling.
