Suits, one of the most popular legal dramas, ended in 2019 after nine successful seasons. The show, starring Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter and Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross, became famous for its high-stakes legal battles and unique premise. Now, six years later, a Suits spinoff titled Suits LA debuted on NBC in February 2025.
While Suits LA has yet to fully capture the magic of its predecessor, there’s another legal drama that Suits fans should watch: The Lincoln Lawyer.
Why The Lincoln Lawyer is Perfect for Suits Fans
The Lincoln Lawyer, a Netflix original, is based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling book series. The show follows Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, a defense lawyer who works out of the back of his Lincoln car in Los Angeles. Like Suits, The Lincoln Lawyer features large personalities and high-stakes cases.
The series draws viewers in with great writing, strong performances, and characters that are easy to root for. Fans of Suits will appreciate the focus on court proceedings and the strong character-driven plots in The Lincoln Lawyer. Both shows deal with high-pressure legal situations, making The Lincoln Lawyer a great alternative for Suits fans looking for something new.
Not Just Another Suits Clone
While Suits and The Lincoln Lawyer share some similarities, they are very different in many ways. Suits features new cases in nearly every episode, while The Lincoln Lawyer follows one case throughout an entire season. Additionally, much of Suits’ appeal came from the relationship between Harvey and Mike, a dynamic that was central to the show. The Lincoln Lawyer, however, does not focus on a duo in quite the same way.
Though the two shows are distinct in format, The Lincoln Lawyer still shares the gripping storytelling and larger-than-life characters that made Suits a hit.
If you’re a fan of Suits, The Lincoln Lawyer might just be the next legal drama you’ll love.
