New “Thunderbolts” Trailer Reveals Yelena Belova Facing Her Past

by Barbara

Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for Thunderbolts, featuring Yelena Belova (played by Florence Pugh) as she confronts her past by stepping into the Void.

In the trailer, Yelena enters the Void willingly, while Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) holds back Alexei (David Harbour). Yelena appears to have a plan to stop the Void, but once inside, she becomes trapped and must face her deepest fears, including loss, loneliness, and abandonment.

Yelena’s mission in the Void seems to be to save Bob (Lewis Pullman), hoping he can regain control of the Sentry. However, it remains unclear if she will succeed.

A key detail in the trailer is the Thunderbolts logo, which features only five tips instead of six, possibly hinting at Taskmaster’s death in the film.

In a recent interview with Fandango, Pugh was tight-lipped about the significance of the asterisk in the Thunderbolts title, saying, “It’s a dangerous game, and I don’t think any of us are allowed to speak.”

Directed by Jake Schreier, the film stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and a host of other characters, including Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei/Red Guardian, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The film also features Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.

The plot of Thunderbolts centers on an unlikely team of antiheroes, including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. These characters, all struggling with their pasts, are forced into a mission that could either destroy them or lead to redemption.

Thunderbolts is expected to earn between $67 million and $82 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. The film will run for 2 hours and 6 minutes, including post-credits scenes. The red carpet premiere will take place in London on April 28, 2025, with the film hitting theaters worldwide on May 2, 2025, in various formats such as IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 4DX.
