The official trailer for Body Odyssey, a chilling body horror film that blends psychological drama, has been released ahead of its DVD and Digital release on May 27, 2025. The film, starring professional bodybuilder Jacqueline Fuchs and Julian Sands in one of his final roles before his passing in 2023, explores the intense, obsessive world of competitive bodybuilding.
Set against a backdrop of extreme physical discipline, Body Odyssey follows Mona (played by Jacqueline Fuchs), a 45-year-old champion bodybuilder and Miss Body Universe contender. Mona’s life revolves around a rigid and unforgiving training regimen meticulously managed by her obsessive coach, Kurt. He controls every aspect of her existence, from her sleep and nutrition to her training, psychology, and even her personal life, treating her almost like a living machine for achieving perfection.
However, Mona’s unwavering routine is disrupted when she has a brief romantic encounter with a young man, challenging both her discipline and her sense of self. The encounter sets off a series of psychological and emotional upheavals that put her at odds with the very system she has so diligently followed.
Body Odyssey marks the feature film debut of director Grazia Tricarico, who co-wrote the script with Marco Morana and Giulio Rizzo. The film is a co-production between Italy and Switzerland, and features a strong supporting cast, including Adam Misík, Stefan Sauk, Lukas Loughran, Hanna Ullerstam, and Maximilian Dirr.
With its intense exploration of body image, obsession, and control, Body Odyssey promises to be a provocative addition to the body horror genre. Fans of Julian Sands, known for his iconic roles in Warlock and Naked Lunch, will undoubtedly be drawn to his final performance in the film, as it offers a poignant reflection on both the fragility and resilience of the human form.
The film will be available on DVD and Digital platforms starting May 27, 2025. Fans can watch the trailer now for a glimpse of the unsettling psychological journey that awaits.
