Disney is bringing back the excitement to New York’s American Museum of Natural History in their new animated film, Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again. This film, based on the popular Night at the Museum franchise, is set to premiere on Disney+ on December 9, 2022. Fans of the original trilogy will recognize familiar characters, including Jedediah and Sacagawea, as they cause new mischief in the museum after hours.
The film features an impressive voice cast, including Joshua Bassett, Jamie Demetriou, Alice Isaaz, Gillian Jacobs, Joseph Kamal, and Zachary Levi. Directed by Matt Danner, the film’s screenplay was written by Ray DeLaurentis and Will Schifrin, with Shawn Levy serving as the producer. The executive producers are Emily Morris, Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Michael Barnathan. John Paesano is responsible for the music.
The Night at the Museum series, which originally centered on the nightly adventures at the museum, continues in this new chapter. Nick Daley, a high school student working as the night watchman, finds himself dealing with chaos when the villainous Kahmunrah escapes with plans to unleash the Egyptian underworld. As Nick faces the threat of the Army of the Dead, he must stop Kahmunrah and save the museum.
In addition to the trailer, Disney released a key art poster for the film, featuring Nick standing beside the sunlit skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The artwork captures the same nostalgic spirit of the original films, while also hinting at the new animated format that breathes fresh life into the series.
Fans of the original movies will be excited to see how the franchise transitions into animation, offering a new chapter for Night at the Museum fans.
