CMC Pictures has just released the official trailer for The Dumpling Queen, a feel-good film from Hong Kong set to be released worldwide. The film is based on the true story of Zang Jianhe, a single mother who faced overwhelming challenges but turned a small street food stall into a thriving business. In the late 1970s, after being forced to flee her home in Qingdao, China, Zang, along with her two young daughters, found herself alone and struggling in Hong Kong. To survive, she sold dumplings at the Wan Chai Ferry Terminal. Over time, her dedication and hard work transformed her humble stall into one of Hong Kong’s largest food companies.
Starring Ma Li as Zang Jianhe, the film portrays the strength and resilience of a woman who overcame adversity, one dumpling at a time. Ma Li delivers a powerful performance, capturing the essence of the true story behind the rise of the “Queen of Dumplings.” The cast also includes notable actors such as Kara Wai, Tai-Bo, Yawen Zhu, Michael Tse, Cho-Lam Wong, and AJ Donnelly.
The Dumpling Queen is described as an uplifting and inspirational movie, encouraging viewers to persevere and create meaningful change, no matter their circumstances. As the tagline suggests, “Sometimes, the smallest things carry the biggest dreams.”
Directed by Andrew Lau, a filmmaker known for his work on Infernal Affairs and The Storm Riders, The Dumpling Queen is a heartwarming film that showcases the power of determination and hope in overcoming life’s most difficult challenges.
The film’s screenplay was written by Jianv Han, Cindy Tang, and Mengchu Zhang, with Mandy Law-Huang serving as the executive producer. The trailer and promotional posters for the movie can be viewed online ahead of the global release.
