Netflix has unveiled the official trailer and poster for Plankton: The Movie, the latest SpongeBob SquarePants feature set to hit the streaming service on March 7.
The film puts the spotlight on Sheldon J. Plankton, the tiniest nemesis of SpongeBob, as he embarks on a new adventure.
Plot Details
In Plankton: The Movie, after Plankton’s latest evil plan is thwarted, Bikini Bottom and the entire surface world face an unexpected threat. To save the world from impending disaster, Plankton must switch from villain to hero in a race against time.
Behind the Scenes
Directed by Dave Needham, Plankton: The Movie features a screenplay by Lawrence & Kaz and Lawrence & Chris Viscardi. The film is based on a story by Lawrence.
The movie stars Mr. Lawrence as Plankton, Jill Talley as Karen, and Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants. The cast also includes Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, and Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles.
Continuing the SpongeBob Legacy
This film is the second in a series of SpongeBob spinoff films, following Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie. The film is executive-produced by Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller, with SpongeBob SquarePants created by Stephen Hillenburg.
The score for Plankton: The Movie was composed by Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper, while Bret McKenzie, Linda Perry, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Bob Mothersbaugh contributed original songs. Karyn Rachtman and Otis Rachtman served as music supervisors for the production.
Plankton: The Movie is set to bring even more excitement to the world of Bikini Bottom and promises to be a fun addition to the SpongeBob franchise.
