In a heart-wrenching revelation, Katharine McPhee has announced the cancellation of her upcoming concert performances in Indonesia, where she was poised to grace the stage alongside her husband, David Foster, as part of his widely acclaimed Hitman tour. The decision to withdraw from these engagements comes as a result of an unforeseen and grievous family emergency, as conveyed by the 39-year-old artist herself.
In an Instagram post shared with her Jakarta fans, the American Idol alumna expressed the weight of her emotions, stating, “Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run.” McPhee went on to elucidate that she and her husband have been confronted with a “horrible tragedy” within their family, necessitating at least one of them to promptly return home to attend to their familial obligations.
Regrettably affected by this unforeseen turn of events were the performances slated for Friday and Saturday, which McPhee acknowledged with deep remorse. “Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all,” she conveyed, holding the promise of future appearances close.
As inquiries arise in light of this announcement, representatives for both McPhee and Foster are being approached for additional information. Entertainment Weekly (EW) has taken steps to garner more insights into the situation from the concerned parties.
The heartfelt post shared by McPhee garnered a flood of empathetic responses from fellow celebrities, including Pia Toscano, an alumna of American Idol, actress Kimiko Glenn, and Nicole Scherzinger, a singer from the Pussycat Dolls. Scherzinger conveyed her sentiments, commenting, “Sending my love and prayers for your family.”
The relationship between McPhee and Foster, aged 73, blossomed into matrimony in June 2019, having originally connected in 2006 on the set of American Idol during its fifth season. A pivotal chapter was etched into their story when they welcomed their first child, a son, in February 2021, adding another layer of significance to their journey together.
