Noel Gallagher’s Candid Insights on His Previous Remarks About Adele

by Barbara

The former Oasis guitarist and vocalist recently delved into what prompted him to describe the singer’s work as “unpleasant” and her songs as “not to his liking” back in July. In a recent installment of Matt Morgan’s Patreon podcast, Gallagher revealed that his aversion to Adele stemmed from a rather simple gesture—one that wasn’t initiated by Adele herself.

Gallagher recounted, “She had someone approach me, asking if I wanted to meet her. That’s what got under my skin. I’m not one to create a scene; I prefer to keep my feelings to myself and believe in the adage ‘revenge is a dish best served cold.'”

He later playfully entertained the idea of collaborating with the Grammy-winning artist. Gallagher mused, “If I ever lose interest in touring, I could envision myself sitting at home composing songs and forwarding them to my publishers. I might consider it in the future. I could say, ‘Let Adele handle the vocals. Don’t contact me until she’s completed the guide vocal.'”

Previously, Gallagher had expressed his opinions about Adele’s music, referring to it as “not his cup of tea” and drawing less-than-flattering comparisons to Cilla Black. His initial disapproval surfaced in 2015 when he remarked that Adele’s music was intended for an older audience, saying, “If someone asks me about Adele, I’ll provide my honest opinion. It’s not because I have an agenda or am trying to provoke a reaction. I simply fail to comprehend the fascination.”

Ironically, Adele’s music has resonated with a wide audience, with her latest album, “30,” skyrocketing to the top of the Billboard 200 in 2021. Her previous albums, “25” and “21,” also achieved similar chart-topping success. Adele further solidified her status at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, clinching the Best Pop Solo Performance for “Easy on Me” and securing six additional nominations.

Gallagher, who hasn’t shied away from criticizing artists like Miley Cyrus, Lewis Capaldi, and the 1975’s Matt Healy, clarified his perspective on these feuds to Morgan. He remarked, “I don’t believe I’ve ever actively sought to initiate conflict. It’s always been a reaction to some misguided individual who decided to take a shot at me first. You know me, I prefer to maintain a low profile.”
