In a dazzling display of winter glamour, Mariah Carey graced the 2023 Billboard Music Awards with a stunning snow princess-inspired ensemble. The 54-year-old singer made a regal entrance in an all-white outfit, featuring a plunging zipper-front minidress adorned with silver embellishments along the hemline and cozy cuffs.
Carey’s chic look was complemented by sheer tights, knee-high boots, and stylish cat-eye sunglasses. Her signature long locks cascaded in loose curls, completing the enchanting snow princess aesthetic.
Taking the stage to perform her iconic holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Carey marked a historic moment as the first artist to showcase the festive song at an awards show. The Queen of Christmas descended to the stage in a ski lift chair, creating a memorable entrance against a retro ski chalet backdrop.
Adding a personal touch to the performance, Carey revealed that her 12-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, would join her on stage. Expressing her joy, Carey shared, “I love seeing them stepping into this performance space, this music space, and the fact that they’re eager to do it, that’s on them.”
As a chart-topping icon with the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Carey’s enduring influence earned her the Artist of the Decade award at the Billboard Music Awards in 1999. Reflecting on this achievement, she described it as “one of my favorite times at any awards show anywhere ever.”
Ahead of the holiday season, Carey teased her festive plans by sharing a video on Instagram where she defrosted herself from a block of ice. Currently on her Merry Christmas One and All! tour, the “Emotions” singer also confirmed that she is working on new music.
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards featured a lineup of global performers, including David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, KAROL G, Peso Pluma, and Morgan Wallen. The reimagined format of the awards show showcased these performances from locations around the world.
