by Barbara

The Avengers are a team of superheroes created by Marvel Comics, featuring some of the most iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. The team has undergone various changes over the years, with different members joining and leaving. However, in recent years, one of the most significant changes occurred when several members of the team met their demise.

Here’s a rundown of which Avengers have died in the comics:

  1. Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff): Quicksilver was killed during the “Avengers Disassembled” storyline. In the story, Scarlet Witch suffered a mental breakdown, leading her to use her reality-warping powers to cause chaos and destruction. Quicksilver was killed while trying to protect his sister from one of her reality-altering spells.
  2. Vision: Vision was killed during the “Avengers: Children’s Crusade” storyline. In the story, the Avengers and the Young Avengers were searching for Scarlet Witch, who had gone into hiding. Vision was killed by his ex-wife, the villainous android Ultron, who was controlling the body of the superheroine Jocasta.
  3. Hawkeye (Clint Barton): Hawkeye was killed during the “Civil War II” storyline. In the story, a new Inhuman named Ulysses had the power to predict the future, leading to a conflict between the Avengers over how to use his abilities. Hawkeye killed Bruce Banner (aka the Hulk) after Ulysses predicted that he would go on a rampage. Hawkeye was later killed by the super-powered vigilante known as the Punisher, who mistook him for a villain.
  4. Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff): Black Widow was killed during the “Secret Empire” storyline. In the story, Captain America was revealed to be a Hydra agent, leading to a takeover of the United States by the fascist organization. Black Widow sacrificed herself to prevent Hydra from using a cosmic cube to reshape reality.
  5. Captain America (Steve Rogers): Captain America was killed during the “Civil War II” storyline. In the story, Ulysses predicted that Captain America would go on a killing spree, leading to a conflict between the Avengers over how to stop him. Captain America was later revealed to be a Hydra agent, leading to his assassination by his former ally, Sharon Carter.

It’s worth noting that in the world of comic books, death is often not permanent. Characters are frequently brought back to life, either through retcons or resurrection storylines. However, for now, these Avengers remain deceased in the comics, and their deaths have had a significant impact on the team and the Marvel Universe as a whole.
